Mohamed Salah then smashed home a fourth in the 66th minute before Nunez headed in a fifth on 75 minutes. In the 83rd minute Salah added a sixth and became Liverpool's highest Premier League goalscorer with 129 goals passing club legend Robbie Fowler. All that remained was for Roberto Firmino, who announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, to sweep home to make it 7-0.

The result was the biggest win in the history of the fixture, passing Liverpool's 7-1 victory in 1895.
