An iconic football moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This edition depicts the winning goal by Chloe Kelly for England v Germany in the Final of the Women’s European Championships in 2022.
On a historic day for English football the Lionesses were victorious in front of a capacity crowd at Wembley Stadium. It was the first major football trophy won by an English team since the men won the World Cup in 1966.
Ella Toone ran on to a fantastic through ball from Keira Walsh in the 62nd minute and calmly lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper to give England the lead. Germany fired back in the 79th minute with a well worked goal finished off by Lina Magull.
The game headed into extra time and in the 110th minute a Lauren Hemp corner was knocked down at the far post by Lucy Bronze. The ball bounced away from German goalkeeper Merle Frohms to allow Chloe Kelly to poke home the winner. It was Kelly’s first ever International goal and what a time to do it!
The Lionesses held on for the final nerve racking 10 minutes. As the final whistle blew Wembley erupted in joy. All that remained was for captain Leah Williamson to lift the trophy… football was coming home at last!
The title of the book “England 2 Germany 1” is the final score of the match.
