England v New Zealand - World Cup Final 2019 - Ben Stokes Ricochet - Deflection - Final Over - Lords - Cricket Print - Various Sizes
This print is the perfect gift for any England Cricket fan as an iconic moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
The moment illustrated is taken from the nail biting Cricket World Cup Final at Lords in 2019. The game was between the hosts England and New Zealand and it will go down in history as one of the greatest games of cricket... EVER!
Chasing 242 to lift the World Cup for the first time, England were 233-8 in the final over and needed a miracle. Facing New Zealand star bowler Trent Boult was England's Ben Stokes. England needed 9 runs from 3 remaining balls. Boult bowled a full toss which Stokes hammered into the leg side to a fielder coming in from the boundary. As the ball was fielded by Martin Guptill, Stokes had turned for his second run. The throw was launched to the wicket keepers end and Stokes dived to make his ground. As he leapt forward the incoming ball ricocheted off Stokes outstretched bat and raced to the boundary for 4 overthrows. The result was six runs for England from one ball. As Lords erupted England now needed 3 from 2 balls. The game ended as a draw and went to a Super Over.
The Super Over was also drawn as both teams scored 15 runs. England were crowned champions due to the fact that they had hit more boundaries in the game.
