Sunderland came into the game at the Stadium of Light with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg. However Coventry City levelled the match with a Ephron Mason-Clark strike in the 76th minute and the match headed into Extra Time.
As the clock ticked into the 122nd minute Enzo Le Fee curled a ball in from a corner. Dan Ballard rose highest and powered a header in off the bar to send the home fans into raptures. Sunderland had snatched victory in the final seconds of the match and booked their place in the Play-Off Final with the chance of winning promotion to the Premier League.
The title of the book “Ballaaaarrrrrrrd!” is taken from the Sky Sports commentary.
