David Marshall penalty save - Euro Qualifier - Serbia 1 Scotland 1 - Scotland win 5-4 on penalties - Book Cover Poster (Various Sizes)
This print is the perfect gift for any Scottish football fan as an iconic moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This version depicts the moment that Scotland qualified for a major tournament for the first time in 22 years!
In a dramatic Euro 2020 qualifier, where the winner took it all, Scotland finally came out on top. The match was against Serbia in Belgrade and for 89 minutes Scotland were in control and led through a brilliant Ryan Christie goal in the 52nd minute. However it was a heartbreaking end to the match as Serbia snatched a last minute equaliser and took the game into extra time when Luka Jovic headed home.
Serbia took the game to Scotland and it was time for David Marshall to shine for the visitors. Marshall pulled off a magnificent save to deny the hosts in extra time to keep the game level at 1-1. The final whistle blew and it was the dreaded penalty shootout to decide who would qualify for Euro 2020 (to be played in 2021 due to the pandemic).
Both teams were perfect from the spot, although Marshall nearly saved an early spot kick. When Kenny McLean made it 5-4 to Scotland it was down to Serbia's star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to take the shootout into sudden death. Mitrovic struck his penalty well but Scotlands Number 1 dived the right way and pushed the shot away.
Scotland had qualified for the Euro's and a whole nation celebrated. 22 years of pain were forgotten, Scotland were back in the big time!
The title of the book 'A night for all of Scotland' comes from the live SKY television commentary.
