This design illustrates the last gasp wonder goal scored by Dennis Bergkamp for Holland against Argentina in the Quarter Final of the 1998 World Cup.

As the game in Marseille entered the 90th minute, the score was 1-1. Patrick Kluivert had opened the scoring in the 12th minute only for Claudio López to level five minutes later. Both teams had been reduced to 10 men as Numan for Holland and later Ortega for Argentina had been shown red.

It looked as though this classic match was heading for extra time… Bergkamp however had other ideas. In the 90th minute Frank de Boer played a long pass forward from his own half. Bergkamp controlled the high pass with a delicate touch of his right boot in the area. With his second touch he took the ball away from Roberto Ayala by cutting it back across his body. The third touch is the stunning finish with the outside of his right foot as Bergkamp curls the ball around Carlos Roa in the Argentina goal and into the far corner of the net.

Bergkamp ran away with his arms raised in celebration and dropped to the floor as his stunned teammates piled on top in front of a jubilant Oranje crowd. The Dutch were through and the goal that won it will always be remembered by all football fans around the world.
