Chelsea eventually won the game 2-1 thanks to a Loic Remy winner but the match will always be remembered for the goal by the Stoke City midfielder. Adam struck the ball from within his own half over the head of the Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who had strayed off his line.

For many this is the best long range finish in recent history ahead of David Beckham’s finish for Man Utd against Wimbledon and Xabi Alonso’s for Liverpool versus Newcastle United.
