In a Premiership match in 2002, against title rivals Newcastle United, Arsenal triumphed 2-0 at St James’ Park. Bergkamp struck early in the game with a sublime piece of skill. With his back to goal he flicked Robert Pires’ pass with the outside of his boot around Nikos Dabizas, twisted around the other side of the defender to meet his own pass before stroking the ball past Shay Given into the net. A breathtaking goal that is a thing of beauty.
