In the 31st minute Ian Porterfield shot home from 12 yards to send the travelling Sunderland fans into delirium. The final is also known for an amazing double save by Sunderland goalkeeper Jim Montgomery (a poster of this is in production!) and on the full time whistle as Sunderland held on to win 1-0, manager Bob Stokoe running onto the pitch in his trilby hat dancing with joy!

The title of the book “The underdogs are in the lead!” is taken from the matchday commentary by Brian Moore, the iconic commentator for ITV.
