With only seconds left of extra time Megan Rapinoe played a pinpoint cross into the box from the left. Abby Wambach rose highest at the far post to head home an amazing equaliser. Brazil were stunned and The Stars and Stripes progressed to the semi-finals by winning 5-3 on penalties.

The title of the book ‘In the one hundred and twenty second minute’ is taken from the TV commentary by Ian Darke.
