This edition depicts the famous lobbed goal by Seagulls cult hero Peter Ward in September 1976. On a day when the Match of the Day cameras visited the Third Division match between Brighton & Hove Albion and York City at the Goldstone Ground. Brighton managed by Alan Mullery went in at half time level at 2-2 but ran out 7-2 winners with an inspiring second half display. However the goal that everybody remembers came in the first half as Ward received a ball on the edge of the area with his back to goal. Ward turned on a sixpence between two York defenders, ran into the box before lobbing the York goalkeeper with a sublime chip.

The title of the book 'It's a nice chip!' is taken from the BBC Match of the Day commentary by Barry Davies.
