Kenny Dalglish's Newcastle took an early lead when Alan Shearer headed home and it looked like they would ease through to the next round. The Conference side however had other ideas and began to create chances. The pressure told and in the 42nd minute Giuliano Grazioli rose highest, in a packed penalty area, to head a corner past Shaka Hislop to level the scores. The game ended 1-1, Broadhall Way celebrated and Grazioli became a cult hero.
