I am producing a set of book covers in the style of a Penguin paperback, that commemorate classic goals for many of English footballs great teams. Each cover will illustrate the chosen goal and use a line from the TV commentary that in most cases have become iconic and much repeated by fans.
Greece shocked the footballing world in 2004 when they won the European Championship in Portugal. During an impressive run to the final a well organised and defensive Greek side beat Portugal in the opening game, France in the quarter Final and the Czech Republic in the Semi Final with the first ever Silver Goal. The Greeks also drew impressively in the group stage with Spain.
The final in Lisbon was a repeat of the opening match and the Portuguese were out for revenge. However Greece scored in the 57th minute with a header from Angelos Charisteas and held firm to record an amazing victory against all the odds.
The title of the book “Ευρώ npwταθλητές” translates as Euro Champions
Each poster will be printed, lovingly wrapped and securely sealed into a postal tube before being safely delivered to your door!
