The game was level at 9-9 in the 70th minute before Racing took the lead as Teddy Iribaren successfully kicked a fourth penalty. However Leinster scored two penalties in the final six minutes to send the travelling Leinster fans into raptures. The drama was not over as Racing had one more chance to snatch victory but Remi Tales drop-goal sailed wide with the last kick of the game. Leinster had won 15-12 to secure their fourth European title.
