This print is the perfect gift for any Liverpool fan as an iconic football moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This edition illustrates the fantastic finish from Liverpool legend Terry McDermott against Merseyside rivals Everton in the 1977 FA Cup Semi Final at Maine Road, Manchester. McDermott scored the opening goal of the match in the 10th minute as he collected a pass from Kevin Keegan and turned sharply past the challenge of Mick Buckley. McDermott steadied himself on the boggy Maine Road pitch and chipped David Lawson from the edge of the area.
Everton equalised before half time with a Duncan McKenzie goal before Liverpool regained the lead in the 73rd minute through Jimmy Case. Bruce Rioch grabbed an 82nd minute equaliser for the Toffees before late drama ensued! Substitute Bryan Hamilton put the ball in the Liverpool net to the delight of the Evertonian fans only for the goal to be disallowed by referee Clive Thomas. It still remains a mystery why the goal was chalked off and the game ended 2 - 2. Liverpool would dominate the replay four days later with a comfortable 3 - 0 win.
The title of the book “Oh that was beautiful!” is taken from the live BBC television commentary by John Motson.
