This version illustrates the fantastic finish from Mark 'Sparky' Hughes for Manchester United against Barcelona in the 1991 Cup Winners Cup Final in Rotterdam.
After a goaless first half it was the Welshman who opened the scoring when he tapped in a header from Steve Bruce to give United a 67th minute lead. Seven minutes later and Hughes was at it again when he ran on to a through ball from captain Bryan Robson.
The Barca goalkeeper Carles Busquets dashed out to intercept but Hughes roundedhim but pushed the ball wide of the goal. From a seemingly impossible angle Hughes smashed the ball into the open goal as two Barcelona defenders desperately lunged to stop the shot.
United were 2 - 0 up and seemingly on their way to a first triumph in the Cup Winners Cup. Ronald Koeman however had other ideas as he smashed a free kick home to half the deficit. Barcelona pushed for a late equaliser and even had a goal disallowed for offside before the final whistle blew. United lifted the Cup Winners' Cup for the first and only time in the clubs history.
The title of the book “There's a chance for another one here” is taken from the live ITV commentary by the late, great Brian Moore.
