This print is the perfect gift for any A.C. Milan fan as an iconic football moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This version illustrates the fourth goal on a memorable night at the San Siro when AC Milan thrashed Real Madrid 5-0 in the European Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg in 1989.
The first leg had finished 1-1 at the Bernabéu with a Van Basten header levelling late on. The second leg was a very different affair!
Carlo Ancelotti put I Rossoneri in front in the 18th minute with a splendid long range shot. In the 25th minute Roberto Donadoni and Angelo Colombo combined on the right wing before Frank Rijkaard headed home. Donaldoni again caused mayhem, this time on the left, and set up Ruud Gullit to power home a header for the home sides third goal just before half time.
The fourth goal was aesthetically pleasing… created and finished by Tre Tulipani (The Tulips). Rijkaard played a ball forward to Gullit who headed down to Marco Van Basten to take it into his stride before smashing home! It was the perfect goal showcasing the unstoppable Dutch trio.
To wrap up a perfect night for Milan, Donadoni fired home from long range to make it 5-0.
The title of the book "Tre Tulipani" is the nickname given to the remarkable Dutch trio of Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit and Marco Van Basten which translates as The Tulips.
