Forest came back strongly in the second half and equalised in the 54th minute when Nigel Clough converted a penalty after Steve Hodge had been fouled. Fourteen minutes later Neil Webb put The Garibaldis in front with a fine finish past Les Sealey.
In the 76th minute Stuart Pearce played a beautiful pass out wide to Tommy Gaynor who ran up the wing. Gaynor slid the ball across the area for Clough to sweep home and seal the victory.
