On a dramatic day by the banks of the River Thames, Fulham took the lead in the 52nd minute. The Latics pulled level when Sam Surridge slotted home a penalty, and it looked as though the tie would go to a replay. However their was late drama as Fulham were awarded a soft penalty in the 84th minute. Fulham's star striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, was brought on to take the spot kick, only for it to be brilliantly saved by Oldham keeper Daniel Iversen. Four minutes later Gevaro Nepomuceno crossed into the Fulham area and Lang rose highest to head home a famous winner for the Latics. The travelling supporters went crazy, as did caretaker boss (and Oldham Athletic fan) Pete Wild who celebrated with multiple star jumps on the sideline!
