On an epic day for the Championship side, substitute Seb Drozd gave Queen’s Park a shock lead in the 69th minute. From a corner the ball fell to Drozd who took on Rangers left back Jefté and left him in his wake with a sharp turn. Drozd then showed amazing composure to slot a shot past Liam Kelly in the Rangers goal. Queen’s Park led and with only 20 minutes left had a great chance to cause a historic cup shock.
Rangers won a penalty in the last minute of injury time and looked set to level the tie. Tavernier stepped up but Queen’s Park goalkeeper and captain, Calum Ferrie, guessed the right way with a fantastic save which he celebrated wildly (a design of the save is available in this store).
From the resulting corner Ferrie once again pulled out a world class save to deny the home side. The final whistle blew and Queen’s Park had caused a huge upset by knocking out their illustrious neighbours.
