I am creating a series of posters in a range called “Movie Classics”. The theme (excuse the pun!) is showing the sheet music of the main title in an illustrative way and celebrating the brilliant composers behind many of the big screens great motion pictures.

This edition features the theme by Hans Zimmer for Ridley Scott's Oscar winning movie Gladiator. The track illustrated is ‘Now We Are Free’. The scene depicted shows Russell Crowe (who also won an Oscar for his performance) as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a Roman general who is forced into slavery fighting Tigris of Gaul, Rome's only undefeated gladiator.

In a fixed battle, Emperor Commodus (played menacingly by Joaquin Phoenix, who amazingly did not win an Oscar... he was robbed!) has planned to have chained tigers released to kill Maximus, however *PLOT SPOILER* his fiendish plan is foiled!
