I am creating a series of posters in a range called “Movie Classics”. The theme (excuse the pun!) is showing the sheet music of the main title in an illustrative way and celebrating the brilliant composers behind many of the big screens great motion pictures.

This edition illustrates one of Cinema's most iconic scenes where Gene Kelly dances down a street in the evening rain. The film is of course is the 1952 musical-romantic comedy 'Singin' in the Rain' which was also directed by Kelly who co-starred alongside Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor.

The music for the motion picture was by Nacio Herb Brown and the lyrics to the title track were written by Arthur Freed. The song was first published in 1929 and recorded by a number of artists, however the movie of the same name and the spectacular dance routine will be how this piece of music is remembered.
