I am creating a series of posters in a range called “Movie Classics”. The theme (excuse the pun!) is showing the sheet music of the main title in an illustrative way and celebrating the brilliant composers behind many of the big screens great motion pictures.

This edition illustrates the main theme from one of the best war films ever made… The Great Escape. The 1963 World War II P.O.W. movie has a stellar cast including James Garner, Richard Attenborough, James Donald, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence, James Coburn and of course ‘The Cooler King’ Steve McQueen.

The poster depicts one of the most iconic scenes where McQueen tries to escape German capture by jumping over a barb-wired fence on his motorcycle.

The music for the film is by Elmer Bernstein and it is a truly rousing tune. Bernstein was an American composer best known for his many film scores. In a career which spanned fifty years, he composed music for hundreds of film and television productions. His most popular works include the scores to The Magnificent Seven, The Ten Commandments, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, The Black Cauldron, Airplane!, The Rookies and of course The Great Escape.

Each poster will be posted in a sturdy postal tube to ensure safe delivery to your home.
