The home side took the lead after only 40 seconds when Ethan Laird scored. Newcastle United controversially equalised in the 21st minute when Joe Willock's shot was adjudged to be over the line. As the ball bounced just outside the box an onrushing Iwata smashed home an unstoppable first time curling finish into the roof of the net.
Unfortunately for the Blues, Newcastle would snatch a late winner as Willock grabbed his second of the match in the 82nd minute. At the full time whistle the home fans rightfully gave there side a huge ovation for a sterling effort that pushed one of the Premier League's in-form sides all the way.
