This version depicts possibly the most famous Nottingham Forest goal, if not the most spectacular. Brian Clough’s side had knocked out Liverpool (the champions of the previous two seasons) in the first round of the 1979 European Cup campaign and it was Clough’s star signing, for a then record fee of 1 million pounds, that won the final against Swedish side Malmo. The close range header by Trevor Francis secured the European Cup for Forest in Munich’s famous Olympic Stadium.

The title of the book “The Million Pound Man” is taken from the live television commentary by the great Barry Davies for the BBC.
