This version illustrates a spectacular free-kick scored by Gareth Bale on a famous night for Wales in 2022. The game was a World Cup Play Off Semi Final at Cardiff City Stadium between Wales and Austria.
With all to play for Austria nearly took an early lead as they hit the bar in the 4th minute. In the 25th minute the home side won a free-kick 25 yards from goal. Bale stepped up and fired a lethal dipping shot in to the top corner of the goal to spark wild celebrations.
In the 51st minute it was that man Bale again who turned in a packed penalty area and shot into the far corner to make it 2 - 0 to Wales. Austria struck back when a deflected shot from Marcel Sabitzer found the net in the 64th minute.
In an exciting final 25 minutes both teams went close, but it was the Dragons who held on for a famous win. Wales had qualified for a home Play Off Final… one game away from the World Cup after a 64 year wait.
