Wimbledon goal v Liverpool in Cup Final 1988 - Lawrie Sanchez Print - Classic Book Cover Poster - Football Gift (Various Sizes)
An iconic football moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This version depicts the ultimate FA Cup final shock, when the Crazy Gang of Wimbledon beat the Champions of England, Liverpool, 1-0 in the FA Cup Final of 1988. In the 37th minute Dennis Wise played a free kick in from the left and Lawrie Sanchez rose highest to flick a header over Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar and into the net for the only goal of the game.
The final also featured the first penalty save in an FA Cup final (by Dave Beasant from John Aldridge) and the first goalkeeper (Beasant) to captain an FA Cup winning side. It was the last FA Cup final to be broadcast by both ITV and BBC, which had happened since 1958. Wimbledon's victory ended Liverpool's bid to become the first team to win the Double twice.
The title of the book “The Crazy Gang have beaten the Culture Club” is taken from the commentary by John Motson for the BBC.
