This version illustrates the last minute equaliser for non-league Woking against Premier League Coventry City in the Third Round of the 1997 FA Cup.
Coventry City were favourites for the match and took the lead in the 75th minute when a John Salako cross was smashed home by Eoin Jess. Woking fought back and equalised in the last minute of the game. Tom Jones played a ball to the edge of the area for Shane Wye to head toward the six yard box. Steve Thompson attacked the ball and attempted a header across the area. The ball deflected off Brian Borrows and rebounded back to Thompson who steered the ball over Steve Ogrizovic and into the net.
The final whistle blew and the underdogs had secured a replay against their illustrious opponents.
The title of the book “Thompson again, it's in, they've equalised” is taken from the commentary for BBC Match of the Day by the one and only John Motson.
