On a day of tense drama the game was goaless into the second half. In the 63rd minute Youri Tielemans picked up the ball and advanced toward the Chelsea area. The Belgian let fly from 25 yards out and his shot arrowed into the top corner of the net past a despairing dive from Kepa Arrizabalaga. In the final 15 minutes Leicester City captain Kasper Schmeichel made two outstanding saves to keep the score 1-0. Chelsea then thought they had snatched a last minute equaliser before it was disallowed by VAR. Soon after that scare the final whistle blew and Leicester City had finally won the FA Cup. Captain Schmeichel lifted the trophy with club legend Wes Morgan on a truly glorious day for the Foxes.
